Hi, my name is PETER PAUL PAYACK.

IMG_5911.jpg

I'm a visual designer and editorial cartoonist from Cambridge, MA. I'm currently working full-time as a designer in the healthcare industry and making editorial cartoons part-time for a weekly newspaper in Boston.

I studied graphic design and journalism at Stonehill College, and spent a semester at Scuola Lorenzo de'Medici in Florence, Italy.

When I'm not working, there's a good chance I'm at Fenway catching a Sox game, on the Charles training for my next marathon, or spending some quality time with my wife, family and friends, or my cats and dog.

I'm always looking for new creative opportunities. If you have one, shoot me an email or connect with me on TwitterInstagramFacebook or LinkedIn.

Thanks for checking out my website!

EXPERIENCE

Designer
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Quincy, MA)
December 2011 – Present

I design digital and print media on an in-house creative team—webpages, email templates, website assets, logos, icons, print ads, mailers, brochures and fact sheets. I create illustrations and videos, take photos and co-write creative copy for our social media channels. I maintain brand standards. I maintain and update content for multiple websites. I work collaboratively with other designers, writers, marketing managers, clients, event planners and outside vendors.

Freelance Editorial Cartoonist
Banker & Tradesman, Wicked Local, DigBoston, Boston Bubble (Cambridge, MA)
December 2010 – Present

I’ve been writing and illustrating editorial cartoons and comic strips for various print publications and websites since 2010. Currently, I make a weekly editorial cartoon for the Banker & Tradesman newspaper and its website. I communicate with editors to develop humorous and thoughtful cartoons about timely, local news stories.

Director of Digital Media
The Committee to Elect Samuel Gebru for Cambridge City Council (Cambridge, MA)
September 2016 – November 2017

I created a campaign brand identity and applied it across a print and digital landscape—a website, email templates, social media pages, event posters, campaign signage, business cards, stickers, mailers and more. I directed graphic design work and managed external print vendors. I worked closely with the director of communications, campaign manager and candidate on day-to-day work, and provided oversight on all outreach material and social media strategies.

Freelance Copyeditor
DigBoston / BeerAdvocate (Boston, MA)
April 2010 – September 2010

I copyedited and fact-checked news and feature articles, and wrote creative body copy for multiple print and web publications in accordance with a style guide. I communicated with news sources, writers and editors.

Features Editor
The Summit (Easton, MA)
December 2006 – May 2009

I assigned, organized and edited feature articles for Stonehill College’s biweekly independent student newspaper.
